WHY THIS COURSE MATTERS FOR AFRICAN TOURISM
Rural tourism can create opportunities beyond traditional wildlife and beach tourism. Villages and rural communities can develop experiences around agriculture, traditional food, handicrafts, storytelling, cultural heritage, landscapes, nature walks and local lifestyles.
For destinations in Tanzania and across Africa, learning how to package these resources into marketable and sustainable tourism experiences can help diversify tourism products and increase the participation of local communities in the tourism economy.
For tour operators, destination managers and tourism entrepreneurs, the course therefore provides useful knowledge for thinking beyond conventional sightseeing and creating experiences that connect visitors with rural communities and local culture.
